9:00 DEPARTURE FROM TRIDENT, NARIMAN POINT

10:00 VILE PARLE EAST ROADSIDE RETAIL

Vile Parle East roadside retail is a vibrant and popular traditional market area in Mumbai. Primarily, it is a vegetable market with a few fruit shops, and most of them are licensed vendors. Market is located near the Railway station. It starts at 7:00 am and runs till 8:00 pm in the evening. It can be an ideal demonstration of traditional markets in India.

11:30 FOODHALL

Foodhall, the Future Group’s premium lifestyle and food superstore, has launched its second outlet in Mumbai. Spread across an area of 25,000sq ft, the outlet is the largest in the country so far. Mumbai’s first 100% organic Farmers' Store is now at Malabar Hills, South Mumbai, after the first branch was opened in Bandra in July 2017. The Farmers’ Store sells everything from organic dairy products, fresh veggies, fruits and a variety of grains and superfood. The owners of Farmers' Store have been long associated with the popular D’Monte Park Farmers Market. They are big supporters of rural farmers. For this reason there is no middle men involved in the process of procuring produce for the store: according to Farmers' Store, a farmer gets on avarage 15% of the retail price of their produce, but through the Farmers’ Market, they get 95% of the returns. A zero-waste store, with a ‘no frills, no packages’ policy; The Farmers’ Store also has grain dispensers, so that people can take what they want and pay by weight, thus making it easier for the store to control waste.

A.P.M.C, the biggest wholesale market of Navi Mumbai, is located in Vashi. It is the biggest market for food grains and fruits as well as the cheapest. The shops are arranged by category and there are four markets within the A.P.M.C: Phase-I, Market-I which is the Onion and Potato Market; Phase-I, Market-II which is the fruit and vegetable market; Phase-II, Market-I which is the commodity market and Phase-II, Market-II which is the grain, rice and oilseed market.
